Greenland is about as far away from New Zealand as one can go on this planet and its remoteness gives it almost mythical status. As such, I jumped at an opportunity to join an expedition to experience the Northern Lights and amazing ice of this unique land as well as some special parts of Iceland. I wasn’t disappointed and these few photographs will, I hope, connect you to the beauty of this vast wintry wilderness.
Some of the images were taken In Scoresby Sound, others in the Jokusarlon Lagoon on the south coast of Iceland. I fell in love with a different iceberg every day as their diversity and sheer enormity was magical. In Greenland, most of the photos were taken from a zodiac with freezing hands! Definitely challenging photographically and physically. Regardless of what the politicians say, the ice has melted in recent years and I feel privileged to have been able to document it. I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I did making these images.
