‘The Shadows our Figures Cast’
GG Rowland
The work of GG is defined by a striking sense of “truth.” In a contemporary landscape often crowded with derivative styles, Sarah’s voice is unmistakably her own.
Her practice is driven by an impactful narrative that refuses to sacrifice its “raw” edge for commercial appeal.
Instead, she translates her personal and social observations into a visual language that is both visceral and intellectually stimulating.
We view GG Rowland as a vital new voice in the New Zealand art scene. Her work represents a bridge between subculture and the formal institution—a dialogue that is currently central to global contemporary art. – Ron Epskamp (Managing Director Exhibitions Gallery of Fine Art)
Chaos theory/human nature, out of the mundane and into something a lil more fun.
