Lynda Eteveneaux is an emerging Wellington artist who is fixated with expressive line, colour, texture, light and movement.
“I love what is vibrant and spirited about my landscape and my surroundings. New Zealanders have a quirky and optimistic way of looking at things. As I express myself through creativity, I am not drawn to what is gloomy and sombre. I don’t want to scrutinise the negative. My focus is on beauty, whether it is a rugged coastline, light on the harbour, or flowers on the kitchen table. This is what is exciting to me.”
Excelling in art at school didn’t lead to a career in the arts. Lynda has had a wide range of occupations, which have fostered good life skills. During this time, Lynda has pursued her passion by continuing to paint obsessively and learning to recognise her own voice.
Lynda has exhibited with the NZ Academy of Fine Arts and Watercolour NZ; several pieces are now in collections in the UK and the USA.
Lynda won a scholarship to study creativity part-time and successfully completed a year of studies in 2013.
Her style entwines mixed media – watercolour, acrylic, oil, crayon and pastel in a totally original and eclectic combination.
