My paintings celebrate the beauty and moods of New Zealand’s coastlines, including strong horizon lines, highly textured land-forms, and illuminating gold-leaf.
The beauty, history and unique geography of Aotearoa is a huge inspiration for my work.
I enjoy working with a strong natural palette using atmospheric tones and a strong sense of light-play.
A feature in many of the artworks is the use of hand gilded gold-leaf on textured land forms.
I live by the sea in Island Bay observing and loving the ever-changing skies, sea and coastlines.
I am very grateful for my daily journey to and from work and I am often stopping and sketching or taking photographs. I enjoy kayaking and hiking with my family.
One of my series in 2022 has a working title of “The Kayak Series” and is exploring the painting of light from being on the water, as well as from the shore.
