Julian Knap
‘Botanic Garden Series – Originals’ by Julian Knap $POA Status: Available
Julian Knap is a contemporary realist painter known for his highly detailed cityscapes and immersive botanical works. From an early age, he demonstrated a natural aptitude for drawing, with early influences drawn from fantasy literature such as The Lord of the Rings—a foundation that continues to inform the narrative depth of his work.
Julian first gained significant attention for a meticulously detailed painted collage of Wellington. The original work has since more than tripled in value, and the initial limited edition of 100 paper prints sold out within months. Only three canvas editions of this Wellington work remain available.
Following this success, Julian shifted his focus from the steel-and-glass geometry of urban architecture to the organic complexity of the Wellington Botanic Garden. What began as a single painting evolved into a three‑work series, followed by two further years of concentrated study. His process is exacting: a single tree or shrub may require more than a week to complete. New canvas editions from this botanical series are now available.
Julian’s broader cityscape portfolio includes Rome—recently released, with the original available for acquisition—alongside London, Paris, and New York. Each major work is the result of an extended creative process, typically spanning three to four years.
